"Sharpened my knowledge and brought some good facts to light"
What Are PASMA Courses?
Prefabricated Access Suppliers and Manufacturers Association courses, or PASMA courses, are acknowledged as the best courses for training people in the use of Prefabricated Mobile Access Towers. They provide delegates who pass PASMA courses with a certificate of competency, confirming that the delegates have not only taken the PASMA courses but have completed the PASMA courses and attained the necessary high standard required of every candidate.
PASMA courses are combined written and practical tests. PASMA courses generally last for a single day. The PASMA courses are aimed at people within organisations that work with Mobile Access Towers whether alloy or fibreglass. The whole purpose of the PASMA courses is to create a good mix of classroom theory with practical hands-on training. PASMA courses raise awareness of common hazards and the necessary precautions that must be taken when using Mobile Access Towers.
The PASMA courses instruct on the correct inspection methods, methods of assembly and the correct procedures for repositioning and dismantling, including the legal implications of neglect. Also encompassed within PASMA courses is a Tower User's Safety Kit which is presented to every delegate on the PASMA courses. This ensures when the PASMA courses are undertaken, each delegate is properly equipped to see the PASMA courses right through to the completion of their PASMA courses.
The Safety Kit used in PASMA courses is of the best quality and can be used by delegates within their own work environment. All PASMA courses take place at training centres in Hornchurch and Telford where the PASMA courses also include detailed instruction on the operation of single and double width towers and dealing with odd and even platform heights. The PASMA courses also include training in the operation of 3T and the correct use of guardrails.
PASMA Training with Kingfisher Access
PASMA training as undertaken by Kingfisher Access involves the standard PASMA training course, the supervisors’ PASMA training course, and various PASMA training in advanced course modules.
PASMA training has helped over 50,000 people improve their own and others’ safety and operational performances. PASMA training courses can only be undertaken by PASMA Registered Training Centres and PASMA training is not available outside of registered PASMA training centres. One PASMA training course involves Work at Height Regulations, meaning only people who have competently undertaken PASMA training are allowed to work at height or are permitted to manage or supervise work at height activities. PASMA training courses include a Tower User's Safety Kit for each person undertaking the PASMA training course.
Another key aspect of our PASMA training is the PASMA training specifically in the use of single and double width towers, which may have odd or even platform heights, surrounded by the 3T and Advanced Guardrail. The Competent Person PASMA training course gives people the technical training, knowledge, experience and authority to carry out duties at all relevant levels of responsibility.
This form of PASMA training enables people to spot potential hazards related to their work and equipment. PASMA training also enables people to spot defects and implications for health and safety. This area of PASMA training empowers people to undertake remedial actions with problems. The essence of PASMA training is to qualify individuals who have undertaken PASMA training to undertake tasks fully aware of the risks and safety procedures.
IPAF Training With Kingfisher Access
People undertaking IPAF training (International Powered Access Federation) are those requiring training in the correct use of hydraulic work platforms at a registered IPAF training centre, such as Kingfisher Access. The IPAF training operators’ course involves IPAF training in the use of hydraulic work platforms, scissor lifts, telescopic and articulating booms, van mounted platforms, vertical platforms and truck mounted platforms. The IPAF training course is also for telehandlers with integrated controls.
There is also an IPAF training course specifically related to safety harnesses. IPAF training gives detailed instruction on the correct use of safety harnesses when working with scissor lifts, vertical platforms, and van and truck mounted platforms.
This type of IPAF training enables delegates to identify the correct form of safety harness and lanyard to be employed, and the IPAF training also instructs delegates on the correct procedures for inspection and maintenance.
There several IPAF training sections within IPAF training courses and one of them is the IPAF training for people who hand-over demonstrations on scissor lifts, articulating and scissor booms, vertical platforms, truck and van mounted platforms, and telehandlers with integrated controls. The thinking behind this IPAF training course is to enable delegates to deliver hand-over demonstrations and basic instructions on Mobile Elevating Work Platforms.
IPAF training also includes the renewal of operators’ licences and there are IPAF training courses for managers undertaking IPAF training in specific areas. One of the most important aspects of IPAF training is that IPAF training standards are accepted everywhere and the Powered Access Licence resulting from IPAF training carries real weight.
Ladders & Steps Training
Many accidents involving ladders & steps are often at almost ground level, which is why training on the correct use of ladders & steps provided by Kingfisher Access is not just a wise precaution when using ladders & steps but is often a legal requirement. Ladders & steps training courses usually last a working day.
The aim of the ladders & steps training is to give anyone who uses or supervises the use of ladders & steps, or supervises the overall management of ladders & steps, an insight into good ladders & steps practice and what can so easily go wrong. Slipping while using ladders & steps can cause considerable discomfort and long term injuries, especially if the back is damaged when using ladders & steps.
Lladders & steps training includes instruction on how best to assess risk when using ladders & steps and the correct inspection procedures prior to using ladders & steps. People who work with ladders & steps must adhere to stringent regulations when using their ladders & steps, whether it is the person who is climbing or the person who is supervising the use of ladders & steps. It is really important that for everyone involved in the use of ladders & steps that they have an appreciation of the risks and hazards of working with ladders & steps and how those risks and hazards are reduced through the correct usage of ladders & steps.
During training on ladders & steps, information will be supplied on the current legislation regarding the use in industry of ladders & steps.
Safety Harness Training
Safety harness training is a crucial aspect of the training offered by Kingfisher Access. The courses in safety harness training are designed for people whose work requires a safety harness and safety harness training. The safety harness training courses are also for those who supervise others using the safety harnesses.
Kingfisher Access provide a number of different safety harness training courses that inform delegates of the legal requirements regarding the use of safety harnesses. The safety harness training courses also instruct on the safe use of safety harnesses in order for those people working above ground to be safe.
The main focus of the safety harness training courses is general safety harness training and how best to fit and use the safety harness. Within the safety harness training courses, real working situations are re-enacted to show delegates why safety harness training is so crucial in the workplace. Within our safety harness training courses there are practical instructions on the use of the latest safety harness equipment.
The Kingfisher Access safety harness training courses encompass specialised access and rescue techniques and basic height safety. Safety harness training is specifically aimed at operatives looking for practical safety harness training and for managers who wish to understand the implications of safety harness training. Kingfisher Access can adapt and incorporate safety harness training for specific delegates that will be facing unusual circumstances within an organisation and will make sure that the correct safety harness training equipment is available on the day.
Typical professions that attend safety harness training are those working on scaffolding or roofs. Other professions often requiring safety harness training are steel erectors and any other persons that have to work at height. All safety harness training courses offered by Kingfisher Access are presented by instructors who are skilled and experienced in safety harness training, having passed the safety harness training course and gained a certificate of training.
