IPAF operator licence renewal course
The International Powered Access Federation (IPAF) operator licence renewal course is for anyone whose existing 5 year licence is approaching expiry and therefore needs to be renewed.
In 2009, IPAF changed the classification of their MEWP categories which are as follows: 1a, 1b, 2a, 2b, 3a, 3b, Insulated Aerial Device and Specials (read our article on category changes here)
Course objectives
To ensure delegates are still competent to operate mobile elevating work platforms safely and hold the IPAF operator licence.
Who will benefit?
All those in your organisation who need to renew their operator licence on scissor lifts, self-propelled boom lifts, trailer mounted booms lifts and aerial work platforms.
Prequalification
Anyone attending this course must hold a current IPAF operators licence and at least 60 entries in their IPAF trained operators log book, for full details of the requirements and FAQs please click here.
Course content
- Short presentation on updates since licence was issued
- Theory test
- Short period to familiarise with machines
- Practical assessment
- Machine pre-use inspection assessment
- Operating skills assessment
Number of delegates
IPAF are currently specifying a maximum of 4 candidates (2 categories) or 6 candidates (one category) for this course
Training methods
Lecture and assessment.
Certification
Successful delegates will be re-issued an IPAF Powered Access Licence Operator Card (PAL), an IPAF certificate of competency, a safety guide and a new IPAF log book.
PPE requirements

Course duration
IPAF operator licence renewal training courses take approximately 1/2 day (AM or PM).
Availability / Location
We can offer a choice of off-site training locations throughout the UK, or, subject to suitable facilities and equipment being available, the training can be conducted on your premises.
