Course Description

NEW for 2010 - our latest one day Safety Harness Inspection course with a strong "hands-on" emphasis covering the formal inspection and documentation of safety harnesses, webbing and rope lanyards and inertia-type fall arrest devices.

Included and used in the course are a set of document templates that not only simplify the correct documentation of Fall Protection Equipment inspections, but also allows candidates to "tag" inspected equipment, and to set up a "Fall Protection Equipment Inspection Regime" as recommended by the HSE in their guidance note INDG 367.

Course Aims

By the end of the day, delegates will have an understanding of:

  • Current legal obligations, standards and guidance regarding the inspection of fall protection equipment
  • Setting up and documenting an inspection regime as outlined in INDG367

Course Objectives

Number Of Delegates

Because of the intensive, hands-on nature of this course, delegates are limited to a maximum of 6 per course.

Certification

Successful delegates will receive a KINGFISHER ACCESS/RIDGEGEAR Competency certificate & photo-ID card.

PPE requirements

None required (classroom based training).

Pre-Qualification

Delegates attending this course should have a good level of literacy, be able to carry out a pre-use inspection of a full body harness/lanyard, and to correctly fit/adjust it. They should also be aware of the difference between Fall Arrest and Fall Restraint, and the common hazards associated with the use of Personal Fall Protection Equipment. We would recommend either our Foundation Harness Course, or the IPAF Harness Course as minimum entry qualifications for this course.

Course duration

One day (typically 8.30am to 4.30pm).

Availability / Location

This course can be held in any of our Training Centres throughout the UK, or, subject to suitable facilities and equipment being available, the training can be conducted on your premises.

Costs

£300 + VAT per person per day (includes certification/ID Cards, FPE Inspection Document Templates, 6 Inspection Tags with inserts, and a buffet lunch where training is held at one of our training centres).
